New Delhi: The Chief Electoral Officer's office in Kerala has alleged leakage of voters' list data. Kerala Police has filed an FIR and initiated an investigation into the same. Police said a complaint was lodged by the CEO's office alleging that the data of voters was leaked by hacking computers in the office.
Ahead of the April 6 assembly elections, senior Congress MLA Ramesh Chennithala and former Leader of Opposition in the state assembly on March 31, 4. The details of 3 lakh voters whose names allegedly appeared in the voter's list several times through a portal. A complaint was lodged with the police station in this regard.
A senior source in the CEO's office said they have filed a police complaint as they suspect that their computer was hacked and the data was leaked. It seems someone helped leak data from computers used by KELTRON personnel who was appointed to the CEO's office due to the election. Senior Congress MLA Ramesh Chennithala said that filing of FIR to indicate mistakes in voters' lists is against the democratic structure of the country. The Election Commission is trying to target those who had put out the truth instead of removing double votes and fake voters.
