Yash's birthday took place on 8 January 1986 in the city of Hassan, Karnataka. His real name is Naveen Kumar Gowda. Yash is better known as Yash, his stage name rocking star. He is the big star of Sandalwood mean Kannada film industry. Very few people know that Yash belongs to a middle-class family. His father Arun Kumar J worked in KSRTC Transport Service. Subsequently, he was employed as a bus driver at BMTC. His mother Pushpala is a housewife. Yash also has a younger sister, named Nandini.

Yash has spent his childhood in Mysore. He had completed his studies at the Mahajan Education Society of Mysore. Thereafter, he participated in the Benaka Drama Group formed by renowned dramatist BV Karanth. Yash started his career as a Kannada television serial named Nanda Gokula. Subsequently, he worked in a few more television shows. Later, Yash got director Shashank's film Moggina Manasu. The film, which came out in the year 2008, had a supporting role with actress Radhika Pandit. His first solo commercial hit film was Modalasala. Subsequently, he acted in films like Rajdhani, Kiratka, Lucky, and Janu.
