New Delhi: The government is going to take big steps to promote Khadi associated with the rural soul of India and Gandhi. The government is going to organize Khadi Expo for this. The event will take place on 2 and 3 November at Lady Irwin College in Delhi. The expo has been named as 'Khadi Goes Global a North East Expo'. It is being organized by the All India Mahila Shiksha Nidhi Sangh (AIWEFA) to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and his 100-year association with Khadi.

All 8 states of Northeast India will also contribute to the promotion of Khadi and for its widespread dissemination. In fact, Northeast handloom handicrafts have been involved in the development of Khadi. Union Minister Jitendra Singh was the Chief Guest of the Event of North East Expo 2019. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited North East more than 30 times in the last 5 years.
