Chandigarh: Paramjit Singh Panjwad, chief of anti-tank organization Khalistan Commando Force, has been murdered in Lahore. He entered the Sunflower Society of Jauhar town and was shot dead. Panjwad, who has become synonymous with terrorism in India, was living in township area, Akbar Chowk, Naspac Colony, Lahore these days. Panjwad died on the spot. 

Panjwad had been taking refuge in Pakistan since 1990 and was considered the right hand of Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI. Panjwad had kept his name Malik Sardar Singh in Pakistan. At 6 am on Saturday, two people who came on a motorcycle attacked him and fled. Paramjeet Singh Panjwad s/o Kashmira Singh, a resident of village Panjwad, Distt Amritsar, had fled from Punjab to Pakistan in 1990, where he held the position of Chief of the Khalistan Commando Force. The Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) was formed under the leadership of Manbir Singh Chhedu in August 1986 with the help of Panthak Committee and Damdami Taksal and currently Khalistan Commando Force is identified as KCF-Panjwad. Manbir Singh Chhedu was arrested in August 1986. 

Thereafter, Sukhdev Singh alias Sukha Sipahi took over as the Chief. Later the command of this terrorist organization was handed over to Paramjit Singh Panjwad who took refuge in Pakistan. Panjwad greatly strengthened his organization by forging links with Islamist groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. In Punjab, 57-year-old Paramjit Panjwad is facing cases of sedition, murder, conspiracy, arms smuggling and revival of terrorism. Panjwad has also been wanted in connection with the murder of former army chief General AS Vaidya and the country's biggest bank heist in Ludhiana.
