The 33-year-old Kohli, who first scored his 31st T20I half-century and then came in to bowl the 17th over of the innings against Hong Kong. Kohli gave away 6 runs in this over, however, he did not get a wicket. The last time Virat Kohli bowled in T20 International cricket was in the 2016 T20 World Cup semi-final match against the West Indies in Mumbai. This was the last time he was seen bowling in a T20 International match. After this, he was the captain, but he did not bowl.

In that match, which was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 31, 2016, Virat sent Caribbean opener Johnson Charles to the pavilion on the first ball of his spell, but since that match, he has never tried his hand with the ball in T20I. Virat, who has played 101 T20Is so far, has bowled on 12 occasions and taken 4 wickets, with his best performance being 1 for 13, against England at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on October 29, 2011.
