Panaji: The Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Wednesday appointed former cricketer Kirti Azad as the new in-charge of the party in Goa. Cricketer-turned-politician, Azad left the Congress last year and joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Prior to that he was BJP's Lok Sabha MP from Bihar. After shunning BJP, he joined Congress and then moved to TMC.
Azad has been appointed as the new in-charge of the party in Goa, replacing TMC MP Mahua Moitra. The party issued a statement saying that Azad's appointment has come into force with immediate effect. Let us tell you that just before the Goa assembly elections, many leaders left the Congress and joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC), but Mamata Banerjee's party had to face the election. TMC national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee issued a statement saying that Kirti Azad is being made in-charge of Goa TMC as per the instructions of CM Mamata Banerjee.
Let us tell you that Kirti Azad belongs to the political family. His father Bhagwat Jha was the CM of Bihar. Kirti Azad also started his political career with BJP, but later he joined Congress. Last year, he also left the Congress and joined TMC.
