Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader and former MLA KM Shaji made an outraging comment on the LGBTQIA+ community by saying that they are “shame” and “worst kind of people”.

Addressing a function here in memory of late IUML leader E Ahamed on Saturday, Shaji made a slew of controversy and accused the state government of destroying the ‘beliefs and culture’ of religious communities by creating ‘gender confusion’. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, a member of the parliament was also presented at the function.

"It is also a matter of faith. No believer in the world will accept this. When you hear LGBTQ, it sounds like something serious, but it's not. Those who practice it are the worst kind of people, even this term is dangerous. There are many ways to solve this hormonal disorder including counseling”, said by Shaji.

“The word LGBTQIA+ sounds something important, but those are uncouth local activities. They are the worst humans. They are projecting it as colorful, but the term itself is dangerous, it creates anarchy in society. Deciding one’s gender after growing up is just silly”, the statement made by the MLA KM Shaji.

He said the sexual preferences of lesbians, gays, and bisexuals are unnatural and the ‘+’ includes pedophiles, incestophiles, necrophilia, and zoophiles. He also said that the Kerala government was intervening in faith and social establishments by supporting such ideologies.

“Males and females are the beauty of nature. India stands out in the world because of the charm of this diversity of colors. This difference is beauty. Humans are not the only living thing in the world that has gender. There are male and female plants," he said at the event.

“It is dangerous that people can just decide what their gender should be. Why the government of Kerala is interfering in faith?” he added.

The Kerala government is trying to destroy heteronormative society and establish a liberal society, he alleged. He was referring to the speeches of higher education minister R Bindu and the campaign taken up by the students’ Federation of India on campuses in the state.

He even opposed the sexual preference that are ‘unnatural’ and vouched for bringing transgender into mainstream society by providing them with the tools to overcome their ‘thoughts’ that they possess hormones of a different gender than their cisgender. Sexual reassignment surgery based on their ‘thoughts’ would have an ‘unrecoverable impact’ on their mental and physical wellbeing, he says.

Terming it an out-and-out campaign, Shaji, claimed that he does not support the LGBTQIA+ community.
