Angad Dev's former name was Lahna. Bhai Lahna ji was influenced by Sanatan Matha, due to which he used to worship Goddess Durga as a female and idol in the form of a goddess. He used to lead a batch of devotees every year to visit the Jwalamukhi temple. In 1520, he married Mata Khivi ji. They had two sons - Dasu ji and Datu ji and two daughters - Amro ji and Anokhi ji. Due to the Mughal and Baloch robbers (who came with Babur), Feruji had to leave his native village. After this, his family settled in a village called Khadur Sahib, which is situated on the banks of the Beas River, about 25 km from Amritsar near Taran Taran.

Meeting Baba Nanak and agreeing with Gurmat ideology: Once Bhai Lahna ji heard the words of Guru Nanak Sahib's words through the mouth of Bhai Jodha ji (a Sikh who is a follower of Satgur Nanak Sahib) and was very impressed by the result of Gurmat in the word Happened. Lahna Ji decided that he would go to Kartarpur for a visit to Satgur Nanak Sahib. His first meeting with Satgur Nanak Sahib brought revolution in his life. Satgur Nanak explained to him the difference of Adi Shakti or dictate and said that the power of God is not a woman or an idol, but she is inferior in form and can be attained only from within. Brother Lahne took self-knowledge from Satguru Nanak which completely changed him.

He became a Sikh of the ideology of Satgur Nanak Sahib and started living in Kartarpur. Seeing his great devotion and knowledge towards the great and holy mission of Satgur Nanak Dev Ji, Satgur Nanak Sahib conferred Gurupada on 7 September 1531 and was entrusted with the promotion of Gurmat. The boys of Satgur Nanak were angered by this and the Guru became the antagonist of the house. Guru Sahib gave him a new name Angad (Guru Angad Sahib). He spent many years in Kartarpur in the service of Guru Sahib.

Life work: On 22 September 1531, after completing the Jyoti plowing of Guru Nanak Sahib, Guru Angad Sahib left Kartarpur and went to Khadur Sahib village (near Goindwal). He propagated the thoughts of Guru Nanak Sahib in both form, written and emotional. He spoke deeply about the spirituality with the yogis and saints of various beliefs, beliefs, sects, sects.

Guru Angad Sahib introduced an alphabet of Gurmukhi script by altering the characters of the Punjabi script provided by Guru Nanak Dev. That script soon became popular with the public. He took special interest in children's education. He established schools and literature centers. For the young men, they started the practice of Malla-akhada. Where not only physical but spiritual mastery was attained. He learned about the facts of Guru Nanak Sahib's life from Bhai Bala Ji and wrote a biography of Guru Nanak Sahib. He composed 63 shlokas, which are inscribed in Guru Granth Sahib. He made the practice of 'Guru ka langar' run by Guru Nanak Sahib strong and effective. Guru Angad Sahib Ji visited all the important places and centers established by Guru Nanak Sahib and preached Sikhism. He established hundreds of new Sangatas and thus strengthened the base of Sikhism. Because Sikhism was in its infancy, Sikhism had to face many difficulties. The Sikh Panth established a religious identity of its own. Guru Angad Sahib granted Amar Das Sahib a Gurupada before his death in line with the tradition established by Guru Nanak Sahib. He handed over the Gurmat ideation-Guru Shabad compositions to Guru Amar Das Sahib. On 29 March 1552, at the age of 87, he got Jyoti Jotam. He started the construction work of a new city at Goindwal near Khadur Sahib and assigned Guru Amar Das ji to look after this construction work.
