The entire country celebrates Vijay Diwas on 16th December every year since 1971. India won the war against Pakistan on December 16, 1971. That is why Vijay Diwas is celebrated on this day. The Indian Army's felt proud when the entire Pakistan army was unsettled in front of India in the war. After the end of the war, 93,000 Pakistani soldiers surrendered before India.

India had defeated Pakistan and then East Pakistan became free. The world today knows it with the name Bangladesh. The war started on March 25, 1971, and ended on December 16, 1971. Bangladesh's freedom struggle was in 1971, which is also called the Liberation War. Earlier, Bangladesh was part of Pakistan.

This huge victory over Pakistan for India was historic in many ways. Even today the whole country with memories of that victory is proudly thrilled. Bangladesh was known as East Pakistan before its rise. While today's Pakistan was called Western Pakistan. Pakistan's army continued to persecute Bengali speakers and gradually it took a virile form. Thereafter, the people of East Pakistan took to the streets against present Pakistan. There was a lot of bloody destruction among themselves. Millions of people lost their lives and women lost their dignity. Then India, as a neighbour, showed its great heart and helped the revolutionaries, followed by direct competition between India and Pakistan. Where Pakistan eventually lost, India won and Bangladesh rise.
