History of World Red Cross Day: The story dates back to the year 1859. When a fierce war broke out in Solferino (Italy). More than 40,000 soldiers lost their lives in this war. Henry Dunant was imagined by the condition of the wounded soldiers. At that time, Henry, along with the people of the village, helped the wounded soldiers and saved their lives. In those days Henry wrote a book called A Memory of Solferino. In this book, Henry also mentioned the formation of aid committees to protect wounded soldiers. As a result, the Geneva Public Welfare Society also established a committee in February 1863. A world conference was also launched this year. In this conference, a proposal was presented for the establishment of the International Committee of the Red Cross, which was adopted in 1876.

Especially in the Covid period, the importance of the World Red Cross had increased even more. The Red Cross is engaged in acting on a war footing to defeat this epidemic.
