Kokrajhar police recover illegal arms and ammunitions ahead of BTC election

Dispur: Acting on a tip-off Kokhrajhar Police on Saturday recovered a 9 mm pistol with magazine, one 7.65 mm pistol; with the magazine, 3 rounds bullet, and one Chinese hand grenade ahead of of the BTC election. The arms and ammunition were recovered in the Pepsu jungle area, under Kachugaon Police station, after acting on a tip-off. Kokrajhar superintendent of Rakesh Roushan said, “The Assam Police in Kokrajhar district carried out an operation at around 4 PM today.”


The information was shared by Kokrajhar Police's official Twitter handle. Its wrote, "Acting on a tip off an operation launched by Kokrajhar Pol in Pepsu jungle area,under Kachugaon PS and recovered one 9 mm pistol with magazine,one 7.65 mm pistol with magazine, 3 rounds bullet & one chinese hand grenade." SP said that the operation was carried out in the Pepsu jungle area near Borimaka (Mainagiri) under Kachugaon police station on the basis of reliable inputs about concealing of illegal arms, ammunition and explosives.  He said that one 9 mm factory-made pistol (RUGER, made in USA) along with one magazine, one 7.65 mm factory-made pistol with one magazine, three 7.65 mm live ammunition and one Chinese hand grenade were recovered on Saturday.


The series of recovery of illegal arms, ammunition, and fake currencies are being done days ahead of the upcoming BTC elections which were supposed to be held in April is now scheduled to be held in December this year.
