BJP on Wednesday demonstrated in front of Kolkata Municipal Corporation on various issues including the problem of dirt and dengue. Under this, a procession was taken out from the state headquarters at Muralidhar Sen Lane at around 1 pm. The procession reached the Chandni Chowk area via Central Avenue. Here the police barricaded the BJP to stop them. Under the leadership of state BJP president Dilip Ghosh, the procession was to reach Kolkata Municipal Corporation headquarters, but before that, the police stopped it. During the breaking of the barricade, there was a ruckus between the BJP workers and the police.

Police used lathi-charge to stop the BJPmen using force. Many workers were injured in the lathi charge in the Chandni Chowk area. According to the state BJP, 35 of his workers were arrested from the spot. Many leaders and workers were hurt in the lathi charge. He has been taken to the Medical College Hospital. The police fired tear gas shells at the protestors and also made a sharp shower of water. BJP alleges that police used force despite peaceful protests.
