Kolkata High Court gives major relief to Suvendu Adhikari in tarpaulin theft case

Kolkata: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Shubhendu Adhikari has got relief from the Calcutta High Court in the tarpaulin theft case from Nandigram assembly seat in West Bengal. The Calcutta High Court has issued a stay order on all investigations into the Kanthi tarpaulin theft case.

The court has adjourned all investigations till 6 weeks after Durga Puja. The matter will be heard again after durga puja holiday. Tell us that Shubhendu Officer and his brother were accused of stealing relief material and an FIR was lodged at Kanthi police station in East Midnapore. According to the allegation, two men loaded a truck and stole a tarpaulin from the Kanthi Municipality warehouse on May 29.

It was alleged that BJP MLA Shubhendu Adhikari was behind the tarpaulin theft and central forces had also assisted in the entire incident. The Shubhendu officer had approached the high court against the FIR and appealed to the high court that the charges against him were politically motivated and the FIR should be quashed.
