Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee had recently made controversial remarks on the judiciary. A case was sought from the Calcutta High Court in the matter. Following which the High Court has allowed the registration of a case against TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee. There will also be a hearing in the High Court today. Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has condemned the statement of Abhishek Banerjee.

In fact, Abhishek Banerjee had made a controversial remark about the Calcutta High Court during a public meeting at Haldia in the East Medinipur district. "One per cent of the people of the Calcutta High Court is working closely with the central government. I am ashamed to say that there are one or two people in the judiciary who have a nexus with the Government. There are a select few who are ordering a CBI inquiry in every case. It is only one per cent of the judiciary.''

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek made the remarks in the context of the Kolkata High Court ordering a CBI probe in about seven cases in the past few days. The Governor also reacted sharply to Abhishek's remarks on the judiciary, saying the MP had crossed the Red Line and summoned the Chief Secretary. Governor Dhankhar had said that MP Abhishek Banerjee's statement was condemnable. It is absolutely wrong to attack the judiciary. He has crossed all limits by making such a comment.
