Kolkata: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against Tania Parveen, a student of Kolkata College, in a Special Court in Kolkata under various criminal sections. According to the allegation, Tania Parveen was in touch with the officers of the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and was tasked by ISI officials to create fake Facebook profiles and extract information from armed forces officers in India.

According to an officer of NIA, On March 18, 2020, West Bengal police had arrested Tania Parveen daughter of Almeen, a resident of Mallepur, a village in North 24 Parganas district of Bengal, on the basis of secret information. The West Bengal police had alleged that Tania Parveen belonged to the terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba. The case was later transferred to NIA for investigation and NIA registered a case on April 5, 2020, and initiated its investigation.

According to a senior NIA official, during the investigation, it was revealed that Tania Praveen had gradually become a part of 70 groups on social media whose strings were linked to terrorism in some form or the other. These groups work to train people to become terrorists. They used to inculcate wrong information against Indian ideology.
