Debutant director PS Vinothraj's acclaimed film Koozhangal has been selected for screening in Kyiv Molodist International Film Festival. The film, backed by Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan, has already won the Tiger Award at the 50th International Film Festival Rotterdam, becoming the first Tamil film to win this prestigious honour. At the Molodist International Film Festival, Koozhangal will be screened twice — on May 29 and on June 6. "Super delighted. Proud & happy," Vignesh Shivan tweeted to announce the film's selection at this fest.

The film festival, which is held in Kyiv, Ukraine, has been held annually for the past 50 years and is among the prestigious film festivals in the world. World renowned filmmakers like Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire), Tom Tyker (Run Lola Run) and Jacques Audiard (A Prophet) have had their films screened at this festival in the early years of their careers.

Koozhangal is a drama involving a drunkard father and his son, and stars newcomers Karuththadaiyan and Chella Pandi, and revolves around their journey to get back the mother, who has gone back to her father's house because of her absuive husband. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music for this film.

The makers are currently taking the film on the festival circuit, where it has been winning praises from critics and festival audiences. The film has already been screen at the New Directors New Films Festival in New York, Jeonju International Film Festival held in South Korea and the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles.
