Kottayam Pushpanath, who gained fame from his novels in the Malayalam language in the year 1970s and 1980s, has died today in Kottayam, Kerala. The real name of the geat novelist Kottayam Pushpanath was Pushpanathan Pillai. But he was renowned by the name Kottayam Pushpnath. He breathed his last breath at 10 am in the morning.
Pushpanath is known for his detective novels written in Malayalam. He wrote more than 300 novels in his lifetime. His novels used to compete with Sherlock Holmes in Malayalam in that decade. His writing style was magical. There are many such novels which are written by him which have been translated into many languages such as Tamil, Telugu, English etc. Apart from this many Novels have also been converted into films. Kottayam Pushpanath is also well known because he had translated Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' in Malayalam.
Pushpnath was a teacher in his lifespan and has been in a lot of discussions when he wrote his first novel 'Chuvanna Manon'. It was only three weeks ago that Kottayam Pushpnath's son died due to some reason. It is a sad news for all detective novel lovers that 80s A grade star is not among us now.
