'Krishna-Hanuman were world's biggest diplomats', why did Jaishankar say so?

New Delhi: The world's largest diplomat was Shri Krishna and Hanuman Ji, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said at the launch of 'Bharat Marg', a Marathi translation of his book 'The India Way'. He said, "I am giving you a very serious reply that if you look at them from the perspective of diplomacy, you will find what position they were in and what mission they were given, how they handled them. Hanuman ji had also gone ahead with the mission with his intelligence. He also met mata Sita, took the whole information of Lanka, and then burnt Lanka. You will see how diplomatic he was. He was a multipurpose diplomat.''

He also used the stories of Mahabharata as references and said, "If I tell you today which are the 10 best strategic concepts in the world in terms of international relations." Giving the example of Mahabharata, he said that today there is a global world, and everyone is dependent on each other. It was the same at that time. Arjuna had a problem with how to fight with his own loved ones. Many times we say that Pakistan did this and that...  Let us show the strategic presence. The way Krishna handled Shishupala in Mahabharata is the best example of strategic presence. He forgave 100 times and what he did after that is known to all.

S Jaishankar said, "Nowadays there is talk of dignity between countries. What is the story of Mahabharata, those who violate the rules in it remember the rules themselves at the last moment, whether they are Karna or Duryodhana? All their lives, those who flout the rules start saying do not do this, it is not according to the rules.'' He said, "It is said that there are bigger countries than us, but it is worth remembering that Pandavas were 5 and Kauravas were 100. The Army of Pandavas was also small but the thinking was enormous. Discipline was high, creativity was high and Shri Krishna was with them. Sometimes when we talk about reputation values, the repositioning of Pandavas was much higher than that of Kauravas. Therefore, reporting makes a huge difference. Sometimes tactical adjustments have to be made for great benefits. There are many examples of this like Yudhishthira said about Ashwatthama, technically you would say that it is wrong but he did it for a reason.''
