Defending champion Sorana Cîrstea defeated Austria's Julia Graber 7-5, 6-1 in straight sets to advance to the semi-finals of the Istanbul Open Claycourt Tennis Championships. The Romanian has ended a 13-year wait for the second singles title of her career by defeating Ellys Mertens in the final here last year. 

Cîrstea is now going to face third-ranked Veronica Kudermetova, who has beaten Anna Bonder 7-6 (9), and 7-6 (3). Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's Yulia Putinseva defeated sixth-ranked Azla Tomaljanovic of Australia 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the last 4.

She is now going to face Russian player Anastasia Potapova, who has defeated Spain's 7th ranked Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-2, 6-2.
