New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson on Friday reacted to the 'no-ball' controversy following the victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) in a league match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022), saying it was a full toss ball, which the umpire termed it a normal ball and he stuck to his decision. Earlier, opener Jos Buttler (116 runs) rode on a whirlwind century and a 155-run partnership for the first wicket with fellow batsman Devdutt Padikkal (54 runs) to post a mammoth 222 for two. In reply, DC could only score 207 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

Delhi needed 36 runs in the last over to win. Raoman Powell (28 runs, 15 balls, five sixes) hit a six off the first three balls of Obed McCoy. But after not giving a 'no-ball' to the third ball, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant started calling his players off the field. Coach Pravin Amre gestured to check a 'no-ball', meanwhile, the match was halted till late. To this, Samson said, "It was a six, it was a full toss ball. The umpire called it a normal ball. But the batsmen were demanding a 'no-ball' to give it. But the umpire had made his decision clear and he stuck to it. '

Buttler, who has been adjudged the 'Player of the Match', was his third century in IPL 2022. He said, "It was really special. I enjoyed it. I love this Wankhede Stadium where I played the first IPL for Mumbai Indians (MI). I am enjoying the best form of my life and would like to continue it.''
