BANGALORE: The Lokayukta has opened a probe against Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra in connection with the Bangalore Development Authority's (BDA) illegal site allocation, Lokayukta sources said on Saturday. This is a blow for the governing BJP.

Recently, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai declared that his government would grant the Lokayukta full authority in accordance with the High Court's directives.

In the complaint, AAP said the Supreme Court has orally reprimanded Karnataka government's policy to allot sites worth crores of rupees to Jnanendra and other influential leaders.

Despite the knowledge that G category sites cannot be allocated because they leave room for corruption, the allocation was made. In response to the Supreme Court's decision, the state government transferred BDA Commissioner M. B. Rajesh Gowda on Friday.

The BJP government has allegedly been taking 40% commission from contractors on all projects, despite the fact that thousands of families in the state have been living on the streets as a result of heavy rains for the past four years. However, the way in which they have allocated sites worth crores of rupees to their minister and influential leaders now reveals another side of the BJP government "the AAP asserted.

"According to Mohan Dasari, the president of the AAP Bangalore Unit, it is obvious from this case that Home Minister Araga Jnanendra abused his authority and is deeply involved in corruption and nepotism. He has also damaged the state's entire system of law and order.

State spokesperson and senior former KA..S officer K Mathai stated that Araga Jnanendra should be dismissed from the Cabinet immediately or he should respectfully resign himself.
