Bengaluru: On Friday, the Karnataka High Court reserved its decision of a number of petitions challenging the prohibition on hijab in educational institutions.

Various petitions challenging the ban on hijab in educational institutions were heard by a three-judge bench consisting of Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Justice Krishna S Dixit, and Justice JM Khazi.

"The hearing is now over. The jury is still out on this one "The bench stated this and requested formal replies from the parties. In his response submission, Senior Advocate Yusuf Muchhala, representing one of the petitioners, stated that the petitioner should be allowed to cover his head with a piece of cloth. Muchhala continued, "It is not proper for the college to ban us from doing that."

Senior Advocate Ravivarma Kumar informed the court of the composition of the college committee in his rejoinder statement. He claimed that an MLA is granted complete authority over educational institutions and that the college is "handed over to him on a silver platter." Several petitions challenging the ban on headscarves in educational institutions were heard by the Karnataka High Court.
