BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced on Thursday that a master plan will be drawn up to ensure that all parts of Bengaluru are developed uniformly. He made the remarks after launching a 250-bed multi-specialty hospital, a flyover, a 150-foot wide road, and a police station in the city.
"Only if Bengaluru's growth is planned can all of the civic amenities be provided to the citizens. By providing mutual linkages and coordinated development, basic infrastructure for Bengaluru, seven former City Municipal Council areas of the city, and 110 villages must be constructed. The master plan is being written with the goal of ensuring that all areas have the same degree of infrastructure and amenities "Bommai went on to say.
Bengaluru has been allocated Rs 6,000 crore under the Nagarothana scheme for development. At a cost of Rs 1,500 crore, storm water drains are being remodelled. To ensure that only treated water enters the drains, more than 20 sewage treatment plants must operate efficiently. He stated that instructions had been issued in this regard.
The Chief Minister stated that all required programmes and projects would be done in order to maintain Bengaluru's international reputation, but that the city does not need to aspire to be another Singapore. "We must construct the metropolis in accordance with its environment. Our slogan is 'New India from New Karnataka, New Karnataka from New Bengaluru.' "Bommai further said.
