HYDERABAD: The leader of the Telangana BJP Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy has threatened to sue the working president of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) K. T. Rama Rao for slander.

Rajagopal Reddy, who recently left Congress and joined the BJP, pressed Rama Rao to back up his claim that Rama Rao joined the BJP in exchange for his company receiving a contract of Rs 18,000 crore from the Central government.  

On Saturday, Rajagopal Reddy stated that he is allowing his accusation 24 hours to be proven. "It is time to use common sense. I formally disagree with Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao. I'll give you 24 hours to respond. You may either prove the connection between the quid-pro-quo and the accusation made against me or prepare to be sued for defamation "Rajagopal Reddy tweeted.

Rajagopal Reddy was responding to a tweet that KTR had earlier sent. "Quid pro quo: the BJP candidate from Munugode's outright admission. His business receives a large Rs 18,000 crore contract, and in exchange, he joins the BJP, "penned KTR.

The TRS leader also warned that Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, a Congress lawmaker and brother of Rajagopal Reddy, might follow in his footsteps.

KTR shared a video clip of a debate that was shown on a Telugu television network. Rajagopal Reddy disclosed during the discussion that the company won a contract worth Rs 18,000 crore in a competition about six months ago, despite the fact that he had been discussing joining the BJP for the previous three years.

Rajagopal Reddy left the Congress and his position as MLA. On August 21, he formally joined the BJP during a speech given by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Munugode.

On November 3, a by-election for the position is expected to take place. BJP candidate Rajagopal Reddy is prepared to enter the race.

In a casual conversation with reporters on Friday, KTR asserted that Rajagopal Reddy left the Congress and joined the BJP in exchange for the Center awarding Sushi Infra a Rs 22,000 crore contract. He said that the contractor forced an unneeded by-election on the Munugode residents.

The TRS also said that Rajagopal Reddy assured Amit Shah that he would spend Rs500 crore to win the by-election.
