HYDERABAD: KT Rama Rao, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President in Telangana, mocked the BJP's "double engine government" slogan on Monday, citing media reports that some entrepreneurs in neighbouring Karnataka performed 'aarti' to power supply authorities after becoming frustrated with frequent power outages.
"Powerless Double Engine Govt," Rama Rao tweeted, referring to media reports that several business people in a Bengaluru industrial district performed "aarti" to power officials after becoming frustrated with the city's irregular power supply.
As they prepare for next year's Legislative Assembly elections, the TRS and the BJP have been competing on a number of issues.
The BJP has argued that a "double engine government," with the party in power at both the federal and state levels, will benefit Telangana.
Amit Shah, a top BJP leader and Union Home Minister, recently addressed a public meeting here and said that Telangana needs a "double-decker government," asking voters to bring the BJP to power so that the state may thrive.
