Chandigarh: Rejecting speculations about her joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), AICC General Secretary and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja affirmed on Monday that she remains committed to the Congress and will soon join the campaign for the party ahead of the October 5 Haryana Assembly elections. Selja credited the Congress for her political journey, stating, "Whatever I am today is because of Congress, and I have served it all my life."

She further criticized the BJP, dismissing claims of a "soft corner" for Congress leaders as mere election-time tactics. Selja emphasized the importance of party workers in sustaining the Congress, acknowledging their dedication despite the party's organizational challenges. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking at a public rally in Haryana, accused Congress of disrespecting Dalit leaders, including Kumari Selja. He highlighted the BJP's efforts to honor Dr. BR Ambedkar and other Dalit icons, in contrast to the Congress party's record.

Earlier, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had fueled speculation about Selja's potential move to the BJP, suggesting that after her treatment by Congress, any self-respecting individual would consider their options. However, Selja firmly denied any plans of switching allegiance and reaffirmed her dedication to the Congress.
