KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait's oil production is expected to increase to approximately 2.77 million barrels per day (bpd) in July.

Mohammad Al-Fares, Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Oil Minister, made the announcement via video conference after attending the 29th Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting.

According to news reports, Kuwait's oil production would jump to nearly 2.77 million bpd in July based on OPEC and its partners' decision, known as OPEC+. The Minister commended OPEC+'s decision to increase monthly production, stating that it will help to improve the oil market's supply security.

"This indicates that the OPEC+ countries will reclaim a major portion of their production quotas in the next months, returning to levels comparable to those seen before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out at the start of 2020," he said.

The OPEC+ group decided on Thursday to considerably raise oil output in July in response to pleas for the group to help curb rising oil prices.
