Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, is set to unveil the 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana' today, coinciding with the Raksha Bandhan festival. This scheme will benefit over one crore women across the state by providing them with Rs. 1,500 monthly financial assistance, as reported by HT.

Modelled after Madhya Pradesh's 'Ladli Behna Yojana', the 'Ladki Bahin' initiative will not be a temporary measure but a long-term commitment from the government. Speaking about the launch, Eknath Shinde emphasized that the scheme is designed to safeguard women's interests in the state.

Application Process
Eligible women can apply online through the Maharashtra government’s newly launched 'Nari Shakti Dhoot' app. Local officials, including Anganwadi workers and gram sevaks, will assist with the enrolment process, which is completely free of charge.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the scheme, applicants must be permanent residents of Maharashtra, fall within the 21 to 65 age range, and belong to financially disadvantaged families with an annual household income of less than Rs. 2.5 lakh.

Officials have urged eligible women to link their Aadhar cards with their bank accounts to ensure timely verification and deposit of funds. State banks have also been instructed to assist in the application process.

Initial Rollout and Government Vision
During an early trial run, more than three million women already received Rs. 3,000 in their accounts. CM Shinde, while speaking on August 16, said, “We will not only provide Rs. 1,500, but also empower women to become self-reliant. Following the vision of PM Narendra Modi, we aim to make women more financially independent and respected through various government schemes.”
