Lakhimpur Violence: Commission set up to probe, family members of deceased get compensation

Lucknow: The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has announced the constitution of a judicial commission to probe the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. It is reported that a one-member commission will probe the Lakhimpur Kheri case. The inquiry commission includes retired Allahabad High Court Judge Pradeep Kumar Srivastava. The government has issued a notification.

Eight people, including four farmers, lost their lives during a farmers' demonstration in Lakhimpur Kheri. These farmers were reportedly trampled by a car. It is alleged that Ashish Mishra, son of the minister of state for home Ajay Mishra, was driving the car that trampled the farmers. Several videos of the incident have also surfaced showing the train crushing farmers and moving forward. Retired HC judge Pradeep Kumar Srivastava will now look into the matter. His headquarters will be in Lakhimpur. He has to report within two months.
 
On the other hand, the Yogi government has given an amount of Rs 45-45 lakh to the family to all the 8 victims of Lakhimpur violence. The deceased included 4 farmers, 2 BJP workers, a driver and a journalist. The government and the farmers had an agreement on this condition. With this, financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh each will be provided to the injured. On the other hand, one person each from the family of the deceased farmers will be given a government job as per their qualifications.
