Patna: In the lead-up to the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, speculation abounds as Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav gears up to nominate two of his seven daughters as candidates. Sources suggest that Misa Bharati and Rohini Acharya are the anticipated contenders for the Patliputra and Saran Lok Sabha constituencies respectively.
Notably, Ritlal Yadav, a former strongman turned politician, had emerged as a frontrunner for an RJD ticket from the Patliputra Parliamentary constituency. His frequent visits to the official residence of former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi sparked curiosity regarding his potential candidacy. Addressing the media amid speculation over his candidature, Ritlal acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the Patliputra seat, emphasizing the familial bond and deferring to the decision of his elder sister.
When questioned about his personal aspirations, Ritlal expressed indifference towards who assumes the role of MP, stating, "Whether it's a brother or a sister, what difference does it make?" Refusing to name any specific opponent, Ritlal asserted his determination to defeat the incumbent Patliputra representative.
In a separate development, Bihar BJP chief and deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary courted controversy with his remarks about Lalu Prasad Yadav, alleging that Lalu had taken his daughter's kidney before nominating her for the upcoming elections. The RJD promptly condemned Samrat's comments, with spokesperson Sarika Paswan criticizing his choice of words.
Amidst speculation surrounding the Mahagathbandhan alliance in Bihar, RJD has initiated the process of distributing symbols to its candidates. Following suit, the Communist Party of India (CPI) declared Awadhesh Kumar Rai as its candidate for the Begusarai constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
