Language of intimidation won't be tolerated: Thackeray warns BJP

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray launched a veiled attack on the BJP last Sunday. In the meantime, he said, "Threatening language will not be tolerated and those who speak it will be given a befitting reply. In fact, he has made this statement in view of BJP MLA Prasad Lad's alleged remarks. Recently, BJP MLA Prasad Lad had said, "If necessary, the Shiv Sena Bhawan, the headquarters of the Thackeray-led party in central Mumbai, will be demolished." He then withdrew his remarks and regretted, 'The media had presented him out of context.'

In view of this, while addressing the inaugural function of the BDD Chawl Redevelopment Project last Sunday, Uddhav Thackeray described his three-party Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government as a "triple seat" government. Recalling a dialogue from the Hindi film "Dabangg", he said, "No one should speak the language of slapping us because we will slap us so hard that the other person will not be able to stand on his feet.''

He further asked the beneficiaries of the Chawl Redevelopment Project not to get lured after the completion of the project. He said, "Marathi culture should be preserved at any cost in the constructions of the redevelopment as there is a historical heritage of chawls where revolutionaries have given their lives and are also witnesses to the United Maharashtra movement." NCP chief Sharad Pawar, who was present at the event, said, "The legacy of BDD Chawl should be protected and Marathi speaking people should stay in redeveloped homes.''
