New Delhi: Swedish cartoonist Lars Wilks, who made a 'controversial' cartoon of Pai Gambar Mohammad, has died tragically in a road accident. The Swedish artist had been receiving constant death threats since he made a controversial cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed and was under police protection. According to the report, 75-year-old  Lars Vilks' car had a terrible accident on Sunday (October 3, 2021).

Lars Vilks, 75,'s car collided with a truck coming from the other side, according to the report. Both the vehicles caught fire after the accident. The 45-year-old driver of the truck was also seriously injured in the incident and has been admitted to the hospital. According to Swedish news outlet Expressen, the two policemen guarding cartoonist Lars Wilks were also killed in the horrific road accident. The accident is being investigated by special police officials and efforts are being made to ascertain whether the car in which Lars Wilks was travelling met with an accident or whether the accident was carried out under the scheme.

Sweden's police chief has said, "This is very frustrating and sad news. Two of our fellow policemen have died in an accident. I extend my condolences to his family, relatives and friends.''' On the other hand, the police officer said, "So far it seems that it is an accident, but the final decision cannot be reached yet. Tell us, There were two deadly attacks on Vilks since he made a cartoon of the Prophet, but Vilks narrowly escaped those attacks. The terror group Al Qaeda had placed a reward on Vilks' head.
