Construction and infrastructure company, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has been planning to hire nearly 1,500 people in the current calendar year 2019.
Yogi Sriram, Senior Vice President - Corporate HR, Larsen & Toubro told PTI, "The company's manpower strength stood at 42,924 as on March 31, 2018, as compared to 41,466 as at March 31, 2017. On an average, we hire close to 1,500 people across functions every year and we see no discontinuity in this practice unless business dynamics change drastically.”

According to L&T’s regulatory disclosures, the company has spent Rs 13,457.46 crore on employee benefit expenses in the nine-month period of FY19, higher by 20.54 per cent from Rs 11,164.33 crore in the corresponding nine-month period in FY18. For the full fiscal year 2017-2018, L&T had spent Rs 15,292.48 crore on employee benefit expenses.

According to the Yogi Sriram, the Company’s employee attrition rate of around 5 per cent was among the lowest in the industry and the company has been is aiming to ensure “wider participation” of women and is channelising the company policy for the career growth of women. L&T, at 22nd place, has been ranked highest amongst all the publicly-traded Indian firms ranked in the global list of “World’s Best Employers” for 2018 by Forbes magazine.
