Aligarh: Freedom fighter fighter Aftab Ahmed Khan died in Atrauli in Aligarh on Wednesday. He was admitted to JN Medical College for several days due to leg discomfort. He breathed his last at 7:30 am on Wednesday. Due to his death, a wave of mourning has run in the area. With full state honors, his body was burnt in the cemetery at Old Ramghat Road in Atrauli. Former MP Chau Vijender Singh and former MLA Viresh Yadav reached and paid tribute. Police team along with Naib Tehsildar Dinesh Sharma, SSI Ritesh Kumar, SI Ravendra Singh hoisted the tricolor on his body and saluted.

Who was Aftab Ahmed Khan ?: Aftab Ahmed Khan son Sher Mohammad Khan, a resident of Mohalla Chaudharyan of Atrauli town, was born on January 10, 1925. He played an important role in the independence of the country along with Mahatma Gandhi. His house was demolished by British soldiers when he was 10 years old. The crop standing in the fields was ruined. After this, he joined Gandhiji's movement for independence. He blew up the Gadhapara railway bridge in Agra. Along with Seth Achal Singh and Jwala Prasad Jugnasi, he also served as a prison guard in Agra jail. When he opposed the torture of the countrymen in jail, he was transferred to Aligarh.

For information, let us tell you that once in jail, British soldiers broke his arm bone and rib, yet his passion for freedom did not stop. Together with the prisoners in jail, they beat up the English soldiers and fled.
