On Wednesday, it was declared that the former Australia batsman Justin Langer has emerged to replace former Australian batsmen Darren Lehmann as the coach of Australian cricket team. The Cricket Australia is likely to make the appointment early May. "The board meeting on Friday will determine the process for appointing the next Australian coach as replacement for Lehmann. No one has been offered the position and no contract has been drawn up yet. It might be a couple of weeks before that happens”.

Former Australian batsmen Justin Langer, who played 105 Tests matches for Australia, has a wealthy experience in the field of coaching. In the last five season, the 47-year-old has coached Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers and has won three Big Bash League titles and a couple of one-day titles. Lehmann had resigned as Australia coach following the ball-tampering scandal that erupted in Cape Town in March. Former Australian skipper Steve Smith and David Warner to suspended for a year after ball tampering controversy.

An investigation by Cricket Australia found only three players - Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft - guilty in the cheating scandal in the Cape Town Test against South Africa. Lehmann was given a clean chit by the investigators and that raised a few eyebrows around the cricket world. Lehmann said he had taken the call to step down after watching Smith and Bancroft speak to the media. This decision came shortly after Smith's tearful press conference in Sydney late last month.
