In Banarpur located in Chausa block, today farmers created a ruckus by entering the Chausa power plant in protest against the police lathi-charged on the farmers late last night. Angry farmers also set a police vehicle on fire due to the lathicharge. Last night at 12:00, the Bihar police suddenly lathi-charged the sleeping farmers by entering their houses in Banarpur. For the last 2 months, these farmers were agitating for the demand of proper compensation. It may be mentioned that the land acquisition of farmers for SJVN's power plant in Chausa was done before 2010-11. At that time the farmers were paid compensation as per 2010-11. When the company started the process to acquire the land of the farmers in 2022, the farmers started demanding compensation for the land to be acquired according to the current rate. While the company is acquiring the land by giving compensation at the old rate only. Farmers have been agitating against this for the last 2 months. In this case, the police barged into the house at night and lathi-charged women, men, and children.
Before setting up the thermal power plant in Chausa, the farmers of the district were assured by the company that after the establishment of the company in this area, the district would develop at a rapid pace, as well as huge profits from the company's corpus fund. The resources of schools, hotels, and daily employment will be increased. There will be prosperity all around. Preference would be given to local people in jobs, but nothing like this happened. Even all the personnel within the company were recruited from other states. Amit Kumar, SHO of Mufassil police station, barged into the farmer's house at 12:00 in the night, when asked what the police had gone to do in the farmer's house at 12:00, they said that they went towards the SJVN power plant.
