Lucknow: There was a stir in Chaudhary Charan Singh District Jail in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh on Friday. When a man went to jail with a lot of intoxicating pills. He had hidden the intoxicating pills in the sole of the sandals. The jail staff then caught hold of the accused and handed him over to the police. The arrested accused was wearing a lawyer's dress and was posing as an advocate of an inmate.
According to the information, many lawyers reached the jail premises to meet the detainees at 3 pm. All were frisked at the three gates of the jail and made to meet the inmates. It is alleged that during this time a person named Anuj Gupta arrived to meet an inmate lodged on charges of liquor smuggling. The two talked for a long time, during which Anuj Gupta took off his sandals and gave it to the detainee and wore the old slippers of the detainee.
Meanwhile, the jail staff present there got suspicious and took off the sandals of both and checked, then it was found that about 24 hundred intoxicating tablets were hidden in the sole of the sandals. Seeing this, there was a stir in the jail administration. Soon, Anuj Gupta was caught by the jail staff and taken to the gate, and handed over to the police.
