Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman and former Indian captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth have responded to former Australian captain Michael Clarke. Clarke had alleged that o that Australian players were too scared to "sledge" Virat Kohli during the 2018/19 Test series and in order to get in IPL, they "sucked up" to the India captain which resulted in their cricket becoming "soft". On this, Laxman said that good behavior with any Indian player, including Kohli, does not give a place in the IPL. Calling Clarke's statement ridiculous, Srikanth said that matches are not won by sledging.

Laxman said on the Star Sports show Cricket Connected, "Being good towards a player does not give you a place in the IPL. All the franchises see the talent of the players and include them in the team. Only such players get a place in the IPL, which can give better results to their team. Therefore, you cannot get a place in the IPL just by being soft on anyone."

One has to play well to win the match: Srikanth also said in this program, "matches are not won just by sledding. His (Clarke) statement was ridiculous. If you ask Nasir Hussain or Sir Vivian Richards, who are experienced players, you can never score and take wickets through sledging. You need to play good cricket. You need to bat well to achieve the target and to bowl brilliantly to take wickets. Sledding cannot help me in any way. ''

BCCI says "IPL postponed until Government's next announcement"

Australian players were a bit soft on the idea of earning millions of dollars: Clarke had said, "Kohli and Rohit Sharma are the captains of the Bangalore and Mumbai teams in the IPL. He plays an important role in choosing his team. Both are making big bids to take players to their team in IPL auction. That is why Australian players used to think that I will not slander Kohli. I want them to choose me for the Bangalore team, so that I can earn one million dollars in 6 weeks. I think Australia went through a period where our cricket was not so strict. As much as we are accustomed to see."

India won the Test series at home to Australia 2 years ago: In 2018-19 Team India was on a tour of Australia and here the Indian team defeated the hosts 2–1 in the 4 Test series. It was the first Test series win of any Asian country in Australia.
