Nearly a year has passed since the BMW XM concept debuted. Now that the production-ready model has been shown by a series of web leaks, it looks quite similar to the original concept. The production model, however, has somewhat toned down the original design. The production-ready BMW XM patent photos, which were revealed by iXForums, differ somewhat from the concept model but otherwise remain the same.

The massive kidney grille, which is flanked by quad lighting units reminiscent of those on the current generation BMW 7-Series, is the first distinguishing feature. The high-tech driver aid systems for the luxury crossover have sensors in a redesigned central air intake. Additionally, it receives more conventional fender flares and air curtains. Traditional door knobs and thicker pillars are other improvements. A stacked quad tailpipe exhaust system and more traditional taillights are added to the car's rear end. While the angular rear window has been kept, the rear bumper and diffuser have also been modified.

The German luxury car manufacturer hinted at the crossover's production model earlier this year, saying it would be powered by a newly developed V8 engine and a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The combined output of this hybrid powertrain system is an enormous 800 Nm of torque and 644 horsepower. A hybrid-specific M xDrive system that boasts of being very spontaneous would be combined with the engine.

The next BMW XM will reportedly have an 80 km all-electric range thanks to the hybrid powertrain technology. In addition, the vehicle will have an M brake system, an electromechanical roll stabilisation system with 48-volt technology, Integral Active Steering, an Adaptive M Professional suspension, and optional M light alloy wheels up to 23 inches.
