The Netflix show Leila is creating quite a buzz since its inception. Netflix has released the first trailer of its dystopian drama Leila, based on Prayaag Akbar's book of the same name. Starring Huma Qureshi in the main lead, the trailer gives us a glimpse of the horrifying world, set in future, where purity is law.

In this film Huma Qureshi plays a mother who is looking frantically for her child. The little girl gets kidnapped at the age of three. Her life also undergoes a drastic transformation apparently till she decides to take things in her own hands and search for her daughter. It looks like it's because Shalini has married outside her community, she lands in this trouble. She finds out that government takes away mixed blood kids and takes them elsewhere.

Prayaag Akbar's novel had got very positive reviews for its elements of suspense, thrill and emotions. Many felt it would be great for a visual medium. In the show, we see Huma becoming a member of the inner sect to find out the reality. Critics praised Akbar's novel as a political and social allegory. They said it was a commentary on the times we were living in.
The dystopian drama, co-directed by Deepa Mehta, Shanker Raman and Pawan Kumar, is based on Prayaag Akbar's book of the same name.
