What is the row -

Following an intense argument Sitharaman and Karnataka Minister Sa Ra Mahesh had landed in a row and grabbed the headlines for wrong reasons on August 24 in full view of officials and the media at the District Commissioner's office.

The arguments started when Sitharaman was interacting with a group of affected people of Kodagu district and Mahesh, the district in-charge minister, told her that officials were waiting for her for a evaluation meeting and they have to go for rehabilitation work. This had annoyed the Defense Minister.

Sitharaman was interacting with a group of affected people of Kodagu district when Mahesh, the district in-charge minister, told her that officials were waiting for her for a review meeting and they have to go for rehabilitation work. This had irked the Defence Minister.

A day after the row, the Defence Ministry on Saturday out a statement and clarifyed the sequence of events in the state. The official statement claimed that Mahesh -the district in charge minister, had made certain 'personal' remarks against Sitharaman which had also lowered the decorum of Rajya Sabha and presented "utter lack of regard" and information about the Indian Polity.

The statement had said the remarks hurting the dignity of Sitharaman were also in "bad taste," which do not value a response.

Meanwhile, CM Kumaraswamy admired Sitharaman for the aid she extended for rescue operations. He through his Facebook post said, "I am deeply pained at the turn of events with regard to the visit of Hon'ble Defence Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman to the flood-affected areas in Kodagu district."
