Amritsar: The Congress-led coalition UPA government at the Centre, led by Manmohan Singh, lasted for 10 years. There have been allegations that Pm Manmohan Singh was only the mask of this government while congress supremo Sonia Gandhi operated the entire government. Congress State Unit President Navjot Singh Sidhu has also expressed his desire to do something similar in Punjab. He wants Cm Charanjeet Singh Channi to follow his gestures in the same way that PM Manmohan Singh once walked at Sonia's behest.
Sidhu's desire comes at a time when the Congress high command has decided not to declare a CM candidate in Punjab. Assembly elections are proposed in the state in early 2022 and the high command's decision is seen as a major setback for Sidhu. In an interview, Sidhu said, "During his stay at PM, Manmohan Singh used to discuss and listen to Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi on every issue. As the President of the Punjab Congress, I expect the same from Channi. '
In the interview, Sidhu described himself as honest and said that his fight is with this system and the system will not work properly unless morality, character and agenda are followed. When asked about Vikram Majithia, Sidhu said that cruelty and drugs were the most important issues during the 2017 elections. But after the elections, nobody else raised these issues except them.
