Aadhaar Card is an essential document for all Indian people. It works like an identity card which is used to avail of services like driving license, travel tickets, etc. The card allows a person over the age of 18 to register themselves to vote for a candidate in the state and central elections. The Union Ministry has approved an Electoral Reform Bill which will link your Aadhaar card and voter ID card. You will be able to link the Aadhaar card to your voter ID by going to the National Voter Service Web, SMS, mobile phone or the booth level officer of your area. We have given a step-by-step process for how to link your Aadhaar card to the voter ID card.
Do this through the National Voter Service Portal to link Aadhaar to voter ID:-
Step 1: Visit the official portal voterportal.eci.gov.in
Step 2: Log in using mobile number, email ID and voter ID number
Step 3: Enter your state, district and personal information such as name, date of birth and father's name
Step 4: Click on the 'Feed Aadhaar Number' option mentioned on the screen
Step 5: Add the name to your Aadhaar card, Aadhaar number, Voter ID number, registered mobile number and registered email address
Step 6: Click on the 'Submit' button.
Once the same process is followed, the process of connecting the two IDs will be initiated.
Link Aadhaar-voter ID through SMS:-
Step 1: Open the SMS app on your mobile
Step 2: Type the message in this format –
Step 3: Send an SMS to the number 166 or 51969 and the process of linking Aadhaar and voter ID will begin.
Link Aadhaar card-voter ID through booth level officer:-
If you are unable to link your Aadhaar and voter ID via website or SMS, follow these steps below:
Step 1: Contact your nearest booth level office and get an application for linking.
Step 2: Fill in the application form and submit it to the booth level officer.
Step 3: The details will be verified and then the booth officer will come to your location for additional verification.
Step 4: Once the verification process is complete, the process of linking Aadhaar and Voter ID will begin.
