Patna: Bihar has been declared as a DRY state. The state government has banned the sale of alcohol and other intoxicants. But the testimony of the figures says something else. Data from the National Family Health Survey show that if compared to Maharashtra and Bihar, the percentage of people of Bihar in Nassevan is higher than the people of Maharashtra even after prohibition. These disclosures have come from the NFHS 2019-20 data. These figures have recently been released by the Ministry of Health.
The National Family Health Survey has released data on men over 15 years of alcohol consumption. In rural areas of Bihar, 14.05 per cent of people consume alcohol. While in urban areas 15.8 per cent people consume alcohol. In Bihar, this figure is 15.5 per cent. Bihar's figures are when full liquor ban has been implemented in the state since 2015. Comparing these figures with Maharashtra, 13 per cent of men in rural areas drink alcohol, that is, about 1 per cent of men consume less alcohol in rural areas of Maharashtra than Bihar.
In Maharashtra's urban areas, 14.7 per cent men drink alcohol. While in urban areas of Bihar, 15.8 per cent of men consume alcohol. In Maharashtra, the number of men over 15 years of consumption of alcohol is 13.9 per cent, while in Bihar this figure is 15.5 per cent.
