Odisha imposes 15-day lockdown, restrictions to be imposed from May 5

New Delhi: Odisha's Naveen Patnaik government has declared a lockdown for 14 days in view of the increasing cases of the corona. The state will have a lockdown from May 5 to May 19. People have to follow the guidelines issued by the Government. The death toll in the country has risen to 2,15,542 after a record 3,689 corona epidemic patients died in a day. With the confirmation of coronavirus infection in 3,92,488 more people, the total number of infection cases has increased to 1,95,57,457. This has been revealed in the data of the Union Health Ministry till Sunday.

According to these figures, till 8 am, the number of people still undergoing treatment for coronavirus infection in the country has crossed 33 lakh. Amidst the ever-increasing number of cases, the number of patients undergoing treatment has increased to 33,49,644, which is 17.13 percent of the total cases of infection, while the national rate of recovery from corona has further dropped to 81.77 percent. The number of people recovering from the disease has gone up to A1,59,92,271 while this has also reduced the mortality rate to 1.10 percent.

Out of the total 2,15,542 deaths in the country so far, 69,615 have been reported in Maharashtra, 15,794 in Delhi, 15,794 in Karnataka, 14,193 in Tamil Nadu, 12,874 in Uttar Pradesh, 11,447 in West Bengal, 9,160 in Punjab, and 8,810 in Chhattisgarh. The Health Ministry said more than 70 percent of the deaths are due to other serious diseases.
