2.5 lakh people send back to their home by railways, huge success in lockdown

The Railways have so far operated 222 special trains amid the Corona transition, bringing more than 2.5 lakh people stranded in various parts of the country to their destinations. People were trapped in various parts of the country after the lockdown was implemented to overcome the coronavirus. In the communist conference, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Punya Salila Srivastava said that government efforts have brought relief to the people in the lockdown. Under this, the government started operating special trains to take stranded migrant workers, students, pilgrims and tourists to their places of residence.

The special train reached Chhatarpur on Friday morning with 984 migrant labourers of Madhya Pradesh trapped in Delhi due to lockdown. 247 labourers of Chhatarpur district have been quarantined in their homes for 14 days. The other workers belonged to 25 districts of the state, which have been dispatched by buses.

Apart from this, these labourers were investigated at Maharaja Chhatrasal railway station. 10 counters were made to check the workers. They were then given food packets and taken outside the station. After investigating and registering the necessary information, they were sent to their districts and villages in 34 buses. The workers did not have to pay the rent, they said that they did not have to pay the rent.
