Lok Sabha  schedules to take up National Anti-Doping Bill for discussion today

NEW DELHI:  The Lok Sabha (LS)  is scheduled to take up the National Anti-Doping Bill, 2021 for discussion today. The Lok Sabha is also scheduled to discuss the need to promote sports in India  under rule 193 and actions taken by the Government.

Anurag Singh Thakur, Minister of Sports, will introduce legislation "to provide for the establishment of the National Anti-Doping Agency to regulate anti-doping activities in sports and to give effect to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization International Convention against doping in sport, and compliance with such other obligations and commitments." 

On March 31, Congress member Gaurav Gogoi emphasised the need to encourage sports in India and steps done by the Central government in this direction under rule 193.

The House will hear the reports of the SCST committee on the action taken by the Centre on the issue of "Reservation for and Employment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)."

The report of the energy standing committee will also be presented. The Centre's response to the recommendations/observations contained in the Sixth Lok Sabha Report of the Committee on Demands for Grants (2021-22) of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and on Demands for Grants (2021-22) of the Ministry of Power will  also be presented.
