Monsoon Session: Action on MPs who created ruckus, 11 suspended from Rajya Sabha

New Delhi: A day after Lok Sabha Speaker Om Prakash Birla took action against four Congress MPs, 19 Opposition MPs were suspended from the Upper House on Tuesday. Amidst uproar by the opposition against the government over price rise, 23 MPs have now been barred from participating during the monsoon session in both the Houses of Parliament.

As soon as the proceedings began in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, opposition MPs started creating a ruckus over the price rise. The opposition MPs came very close to the Well while shouting slogans inside the House. There were repeated requests from the Chairman to all the Opposition MPs to sit in their seats, but the Opposition MPs did not listen to one. According to information, on not obeying, the Chairman took action against the Opposition MPs and suspended them from the proceedings of the House for a week.

Among the MPs who have been suspended are Sushmita Dev of Trinamool MP (TMC), Mausam Noor, Dr Shantanu Sen, Dola Sen, Shantanu Sen, Namimal Haque, Abhi Ranjan Biswas and Shanta Chhetri. At the same time, AA Rahim of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Mohammad Abdullah of the Left and Kanimozhi of the DMK have also been suspended.
