Lok Sabha bypolls: Samajwadi Party candidates file nominations

LUCKNOW: To contest the Lok Sabha bypolls, the Samajwadi Party has fielded Dharmendra Yadav from Azamgarh and Asim Raza from Rampur.

Dharmendra Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav's cousin, is a former Badaun Member of Parliament. Meanwhile, Azim Raza is a close friend of senior SP MLA Mohd Azam Khan. Both candidates submitted their nominations on Monday.

Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua, a Bhojpuri star, is running in Azamgarh, while Ghanshyam Lodhi is running in Rampur for the BJP.

Guddu Jamali is the BSP's candidate in Azamgarh, however there is no BSP candidate in Rampur.  The Congress will not run in the Lok Sabha by-elections.

The deadline for filing nominations was Monday. The byelections will be held on June 23 and the results will be announced on June 26.
