Lok Sabha Elections: Modi and Mamata to Hold Rallies in Bengal; PM to Start Bihar Campaign from Jamui

New Delhi: Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee are gearing up for Lok Sabha poll campaigning in West Bengal's Cooch Behar constituency.

This marks PM Modi's first rally in both Bengal and Bihar since the Election Commission of India announced the general election schedule on March 16.

Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee is slated to hold a rally in Cooch Behar around noon, followed by the Prime Minister's rally at 3 pm.

During an interaction with BJP workers from West Bengal via the NaMo App on Wednesday, PM Modi criticized the TMC-led government in the state.

He emphasized that violence is the major issue in Bengal during elections and assured that the BJP would closely monitor the situation.

"Violence is the primary concern during elections in West Bengal. The Election Commission has taken special measures for the security and safety of the citizens. We are keeping a close eye on the developments in West Bengal. It's important to encourage people to vote without fear," PM Modi stated yesterday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee are set to hold consecutive Lok Sabha campaign rallies on Thursday in Cooch Behar, located in North Bengal. This region has witnessed significant electoral gains for the BJP since 2019. It marks the first instance in this election cycle where both Modi and Banerjee will address voters in the same constituency on the same day. This underscores the escalating political competition in West Bengal, with the BJP aiming to challenge Banerjee's Trinamool Congress. The rallies underscore the intense campaign efforts and strategic focus on pivotal battleground areas leading up to the elections.
